Just before I moved from big city Luanda to Soyo, I have been invited to visit Mulemba association, based in Luanda and working with children.
They started helping street children during the harsh civil war years and have continued action after peace was restored, by running a school and small orphanage.
We arrived on a sunday morning, and the capoeira class was about to start.
There was a lot of energy in the air, as both boys and girls would come in turn to the circle to exchange and "dance" their airy battle movements by mimicking battle fighting. See the photos posted.
I enjoyed watching the teenagers tiring themselves out, and also exchanged some smiles with the more shy ones who would not dare come onto the scene.
You can have a look at Mulemba's website, and browse through their activities, it will however be easier to understand for those who speak French.
