Mulemba

Journal Entry: Wed May 28, 2008, 2:16 PM
Just before I moved from big city Luanda to Soyo, I have been invited to visit Mulemba association, based in Luanda and working with children.
They started helping street children during the harsh civil war years and have continued action after peace was restored, by running a school and small orphanage.

We arrived on a sunday morning, and the capoeira class was about to start.
There was a lot of energy in the air, as both boys and girls would come in turn to the circle to exchange and "dance" their airy battle movements by mimicking battle fighting. See the photos posted.

I enjoyed watching the teenagers tiring themselves out, and also exchanged some smiles with the more shy ones who would not dare come onto the scene.

You can have a look at Mulemba's website, and browse through their activities, it will however be easier to understand for those who speak French. [link]

Left ... and came back

Journal Entry: Tue May 6, 2008, 8:42 AM
So, I have gone on holiday, and came back.

Namibia did not impress me as much as I expected. I do not have the means to be part of the luxury tourist market that is Namibia's commercial niche and somehow this left me out of the game.

But I did get to see many nice places and for sure I took lots of photos. What you will see from these is mostly landscapes, animals and some bizarre close-up organic photos. Hopefully you will enjoy some of it !
(by the way, I made lots of photos intended for stock, so feel free to check them on my stock account :icontwist-and-stock:)

I feel the best photos are the ones on the rolls that will only be developed later in the summer, when I go home to Europe. That's also where I have some pictures of the great pique-nique we shared with Damara children, I even got to learn some words of their click-language. Interesting and funny.

Stock account

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 21, 2008, 7:00 AM
Hello to all,

I haven't completely recovered from my camera being stolen, but my dearest friend has proposed to lend me his until I can get myself another one, so my daily needs can be met.

I still feel my little pocket camera had a very special feel, and was very special (so useful), but anyway I cannot stay without a camera and eventually I will adopt the new one as my tool.

I also wanted to let you watchers know that I have started a stock account some weeks ago and you may want to have a look there.

You will find the Twist and Stock gallery at [link] It is mostly orientated towards natural textures but as I grow accustomed to photoshop, I am also trying to create some abstract ones.

Feel free to have a look, comment or collect, download and play with what's on offer. It is for you to use if you like it.

Lost and not found !

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 14, 2008, 12:41 PM
I am still in shock. My digital camera is lost (maybe stolen from my bag) since yesterday.

Being far away from Europe, I have no chance of getting a new one before long. I have another camera, old style film camera, but this would not allow me to download my recent photos and work on the editing.

I was recently feeling that I was doing good with my photography, trying some new things and enjoying more and more the editing.

And anyway, this was my only hobby during the little free time I have here, after the work hours are over. I feel terrible, like a child who lost his favourite toy. I don't know what to do with myself...

Disappearance

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 15, 2008, 8:19 AM
Very strangely, my two latest deviations are not shown on my gallery.
I know my internet connection is weak, but then this is all the same very strange.

You may want to see them, so here [link] and there [link] they are:
Some Purposely Blurry Shots.

They go along with another previous shot posted on DA.
All three have been shot in Angola over the past few months.
